A look into the age-old question of how the hell should u dress
Y’all I can’t even BEGIN to tell you how many times I have heated conversations with myself about how to dress, how much body to show, what it means when you show X amount of body, all these types of questions that I feel like me, as a kind-of-bodacious-bod (can u say that about urself? My measurements are 36-27-38, which is like very close to hourglass so maybe I can??) can have heated debates about beacuse clothes don’t just fall on me like they do on a lot of people. They get caught up in all sorts of places, they rise and bunch and sometimes it’s just easier to wear all skin tight everything because then I don’t need to worry about any of this! What the hell!
Anyway, all of this is just to say that on this day I just didn’t want to think about any of that, so I put on a long Reformation dress I bought to wear to a wedding, and an old tee from Grailed. The front views of this outfit are a bit questionable, but boy was it nice to just wear it and let clothes billow around. I feel like this look definitely suits a more straight up-n-down body shape, esp w/some heavy black boots for fall, but I was into it.
The swimsuit edition
Splish splash here we go again! I’m writing this late on Sunday, getting myself mentally prepared for another week at work, desperately wishing I was back here. There is nothing sweeter than stepping out and hearing the ocean, it’s one of my fav sounds 🙄
My friend’s apartment was right on the water, with a private, sometimes terrifying, entrance to the water. These were taken the last few days we were there, in my favorite Sommer Swim bikini. Sommer Swim is definitely 100% my go-to swimwear brand right now – perfect barely there cuts and really good colors. The only thing to watch out for is the sizing is a bit on the small size, I’ve gone L for top and M for the bottom, although I think for the string bikini tops I’m going for M – I like a less is more approach when it comes to swimsuits LOL.
The clothing edition
Oof y’all I’ve been slacking bad – I want to get these photos posted STAT before we go into hibernation in London. I’ve obviously been taking it really easy on here for a couple months now, but I’m trying to turn a new leaf. I want this to be more of a space for me to experiment on design than it is to be talking just about clothes – I’m not a big shopper so it really doesn’t make sense to try and force it.
In other news, I got back from Mallorca a couple weeks ago and got some film developed – I really love how these turned out but I’m going to invest in better film for the next couple rolls. I’m so curious about how much better Kodak Portra 400 really is. I use an Olympus Mju II Zoom, which is kind of annoying, so going to upgrade to a non-zoom in a bit, after I buy some new clothes. But ANYWAY, I’m rolling this out in two posts, a mix of film, digital cam and iPhone piccos. Buckle in if you please ;)
We’re starting with the daytime looks. I stayed at a friend’s apartment right on the water by Cala Major. We rented a car for a couple days, these photos are from out and about Pollença, Valledemossa and Palma. It also includes literally everything I’ve worn this summer (the dresses from Reformation & the striped top is a friend’s old APC shirt), so we’ve not missed out much on that front.
#nailart and a new ring
I went on a recent Instagram rampage and got sucked into a #nailart black hole, but out of it came my obsession with @nail_unistella and I made the decision to become my own nail artist, with the help of some Q-Tips and artist tape. Up close, they’re a bit messy, but from afar they’re passable. I’m also trying to give my nails a rest from nail polish, I want those natural strong nails y’all, so the dot technique is where I’ve been at for the past couple months. I feel like negative space is the way to go right now, so I’ve saved some down on Pinterest like the middle-aged lady I am.
Oh and featured below, my dad’s signet ring redesigned and updated for my index finger. Keeping it in the fam.
