Baby Blue Lacoste

Bringing back that Lacoste look

Oh my lord guys, I didn’t wear any makeup for this look and I already have a young moon-face, not to mention I’ve got no tan and wearing a large Lacoste shirt…I present to you: me, cosplaying as a 12 year old boy. I would have normally thrown on a pair of hoops, but I lost one of them so I’m back on the market for a thicker, Sade pair. I’m thinking these ones.

Anyway, I love wearing this shirt, and just stomping around in some beat up jeans and an oversized polo that makes me feel like a girl on the move, getting shit done. I think that might be my favorite feeling, so anytime I’m wearing something like that is a time to celebrate.
Paired with my sister’s old Guess jacket, I’m good to go.

New new new, trying out some flash photography

While wearing an everyday look

I’m sharing a pretty typical, everyday look today. I had a different outfit planned for this post, but was not feeling it at all. I gave it a solid 10 mins of effort, then had to go home to change. Does that ever happen to you guys? Instead I threw on a classic get-up – band tee, my Moschino quilted jean jacket and a Fruit of the Loom sweater to wear as a scarf. I love wrapping a sweater around my neck and pretending I’m either a preppy frat boy or a 35-yr old mother on my way to pick up my kids from golf camp. It’s fun to play around.

Given the sheer amount of times I wear this jacket, I’m surprised that it’s only the second time I’ve shared this on here. I got this for £30 in a charity shop two years ago, and I’ve hardly taken it off since. I have two goals for this blog – buy smarter and share more. I might be sharing the same piece for years to come, but at least it’ll be totally genuine.

I’m also loving this flash photography, I have a feeling it’ll be back every once in a while. We have a new creative director at work who’s all about trying everything out, change this and change that, and I’m kind of inspired to try that here. I’m excited to see what’s to come!!

Designer Spotlight: Margova Jewellery

angelebaby hayett mccarthy margova jewellery

I originally started this “Designer Spotlight” to showcase new designers/labels I’m super into,
but it died out as I thought I had to own and wear it to share it…but I want to revive this series as I really just want to share everything this year, as much as possible.

So, for the second ever instalment, I present Margova Jewellery, and specifically this King of Kings earring. Modelled by Hayett McCarthy, who also was the subject of this painting by Chloe Wise, this earring is just me all over. I’m all about the cross as a symbol, and I have cross studs on my ears and two crosses + a little baby angel (ahem, angelebaby) on a gold chain that I never plan on taking off. I haven’t been able to stop thinking about this photo after an art editor I was assisting at work showed me this as a ref, and I really think I need to either splurge or recreate this as I can’t tell if the €149 price tag includes the hoop as well as the pendant (??!?). Either way, getting my gloss out in preparation.

She’s In Red

I have a thing for leather trenches & old Valentino

Trench coats seem to be a bit of a hit or miss for people, but it’s a definite conditional hit for me. There are some sickass trenches out there, ahem this Margiela raw hemmed stunner, but you’d be hard pressed to find me in a basic, more “classic” trench. Hence, the leather trench, an easy way to update a pretty standard look. I’ve worn my black one (see it in a post here) to death in the past two years, to the point where it’s lost any coolness I used to think it has, so when my sister gave me this one, which incidentally was passed down to her from my aunt, I couldn’t say no! I love the western belt detailing on the back and the bathrobe-like closure – anything to give me a defined waist is a win in my book.

There’s a few new items here amidst my overworn AF1s and cargos, like my mom’s very 2004-ish Valentino bag. She wore this a lot when we were living in Paris, and all I can remember is that it clearly doesn’t close very well seeing as she was pickpocketed at least four times in one year. But! I just love it, and I carry my card in my coat and my phone in hand, so really good luck to whoever tries to pick my pockets. I’m wearing new Retrosuperfuture sunglasses too, and since I’ve been back to London, I’ve stubbornly been plopping these on my face, trying to pretend it’s a foggy pink out, instead of a foggy grey. Power of positive thinking, no?

Undone in Lacausa

Back in LA, wearing all Lacausa <3

Back in August my sister and I took some photos for her friend’s brand, Lacausa, and here we are, doing part 2 in San Onofre after a bit of surfing and food. Looking super happy here – nothing like a bit of sun and sand after a couple cold months in London. I’m back in LA for the holidays and I could not be happier about it!! We were sent the Uniform trousers, ultra hi-waist, ultra flattering, and their Cameron blouse, the perfect amount of sheer and flared sleeves. The Adidas slides are a bit 2014, but I think a little heeled sandal or boot would make it work for winter. I can’t wait to wear this top to death, there’s nothing I love more than a shirt with only two buttons buttoned. Overall, A+ on cut and quality.

Layering with Solace London

New in : bodysuit & energy

I’ve recently had a bit of a breakthrough with my mindset lately, and I could not be more relieved. I started my blog purely to work on photography, image composition and digital design – generally to do what I do at work, but with a bit more freedom – but the past few months I’ve been super bogged down by the numbers! The engagements, the page views, the followers, etc…It put a huge huge damper on everything I did and worst of all, I absolutely hate agonising over Instagram even though I knowwww it’s a big part of the whole thing.

It’s hard trying to grow a passion project as pouring all your free time into a project and not seeing it grow as fast as you’d like is really disheartening, and I definitely felt my inspiration and my drive dying because of it. I’ll be honest – I suck at Instagram and I know I’m a bit silly in disregarding it, but there’s a fakeness there that I’m not into. I’d rather follow people than follow blogs or accounts that try and make content from nothing.

That being said, since I stopped caring so much about the numbers and have tapped back into actively pursuing the creativity of it, I feel so much more invigorated. I’m not sure if you’ve noticed, but I changed the typography a bit, widened the page so I can play around with the layout more and display images larger – all things I truly care about.

Now, another thing I care about – heattech turtlenecks from Uniqlo. They are a total godsend for a girl who hates layering. I got this Solace London bodysuit in their sample sale a couple weeks ago, and I’m wearing it backwards here as the actual band that’s meant to go over your boobs would definitely not work for mine. I love the cut-out detail on the back though – I feel it adds something different and I cannot wait to wear it in summer w/bare skin peeking out. I wish I picked up other things from the sale, but I think it’s all old Solace, the new pieces are SO MUCH BETTER. Gotta keep my eyes peeled for more sample sales in the future ;).
